2014 READING LIST

I LOVE reading!! When I was a little girl, my parents would take us to the library so my sister's and I could choose the books we wanted to read. And then we had to write a book report for them. During the summer. AND I LOVED IT!! There's just something about escaping into a book, being swept up by all the words and entranced by the story.

I've picked out some books that I want to read this year that are being adapted into movies I want to see. When a movie is made from a book, I try to read the book first. With spring break starting next week, that gives me time to tackle at least one of them. And with grad school almost over (praise Jesus!!) I'll be back to my usual bookworm self in no time!

// Divergent I read a sample of this last year and I was hooked-like still trying to flip pages when the screen clearly said "sample has ended"! Being the busy bee that I am, I haven't been able to read it yet. The movie comes out in March so guess what I'll be doing next week ya'll? Reading Divergent.

// The Giver Technically I've read this book already. In elementary school. And I still remember it like I read it yesterday, that's how much I enjoyed it! So I'll be reading it again to get all the details down before this movie comes out. I'm pretty excited!

// A Book of Common Prayer  This book intrigues me because a mother travels to Central America to reunite with her daughter and is in for some serious life lessons.

// This is Where I Leave You These types of stories always intrigue me because everyone's family dynamic is so different. A family's father dies and his last request is that they all spend a week together as a family. Of course, chaos ensues!

// Gone Girl I typically enjoy movies that star Ben Affleck and the synopsis for this one sounded pretty interesting so I thought I'd read the book. Even if I don't make it to the movie theater for this one, I can always watch it when it hits cable. Reading the book first still works!

//Serena  I love Jennifer Lawrence and I love Bradley Cooper. They are acting in another movie together! This book is about a husband and wife who set out to the mountains to build an empire. Serena (Jennifer) finds out she can't have kids and sets out to kill her husband's (Bradley) illegitimate child. The suspense!!

There you have it folks, my list of books for the year. Are you planning on reading any books that are being made into movies? Do share!

  1. Divergent is one of the best books I've read. I still haven't read the rest of the series, but I'm itching too. I can't believe that I've never read The Giver! I really need to get on that. I haven't read Gone Girl, but I did read Dark Places by Gillian Flynn, and it was excellent. I was at the edge of my seat the whole time! I've been wanting to read Gone Girl too though.

    1. Yay! It's always great to hear from someone else who has read these! I'm excited to read them! And you definitely should read The Giver!! I'm honestly surprised that it's taken so long for it to be made into a movie.
